New Wiley agreement strengthens open access at ETH Zurich
After intensive negotiations with the publisher Wiley, the negotiating delegation of swissuniversities has concluded a new consortium agreement.

The new regulation takes effect retroactively from 1 January 2025 and allows members of ETH Zurich to publish in both hybrid and Gold Open Access journals by Wiley (including Advanced Materials, Angewandte Chemie, Geophysical Research Letters) at no additional cost. In addition, full reading access is granted to external page Wiley’s entire journal portfolio.
For authors, the publication process remains unchanged. Articles published in 2025 before the agreement came into effect will be made open access retroactively.
In addition, the agreement permits the use of generative AI tools with licensed content under specific conditions. It is essential that copyrighted material is used responsibly and in compliance with the applicable license terms. Details and recommendations are available on the information page about the use of AI tools.
