Whether you're a lark or a night owl, you can organise your working hours even more flexibly with us. The GESS Library's popular Open Library programme is being extended by two hours from 07.00 to 09.00.

The Earth Sciences Library will close permanently on 30 April 2024. Once ETH Zurich gives the green light, the Centre for Origin and Prevalence of Life will move into the building (construction period 2024/2025). The library team and its full range of services will remain available to you.

The facilities at the GESS Library are now also available to use from 5.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

After some six years in their temporary location on the Hönggerberg campus, the Thomas Mann Archives have moved back to the city centre.

Due to the closure of the ETH Zurich buildings, access to individual ETH Library locations is only possible for ETH members.

The ETH Library returns to its normal opening hours at all locations, since all ETH buildings are open again.

The ETH Library in the main building is now also open again on weekends. Additionally, the Architecture and Civil Engineering Library on the Hönggerberg is open during the week. All other library locations will open on 17 May 2021. Our digital offers and services are available to you as usual.

Media that were borrowed prior to 7 December 2020 must be returned by the end of March 2021.

Extended opening hours and services

More restrictions to be lifted before the start of the semester, but masks are mandatory in all ETH buildings.

The ETH Library will be accessible again at all locations starting 3 August 2020. Please note the opening hours for the individual locations.

The ETH Library in the main building and the Architecture and Civil Engineering Library are open again from 8 June 2020.

From 08.06.2020, ETH Library will also be physically open to its customers again – albeit with restrictions due to the necessary protective measures.

ETH Library will be closed over Easter, from Friday, 10 April to Monday, 13 April 2020.

The ETH Library will remain closed at all locations for the time being until and including Sunday, 19 April 2020.  

As of Monday, 16 March 2020, access to all ETH buildings will be restricted to university employees and doctoral staff (with a few exceptions). ETH Library will provide alternative services for students as soon as possible.

Tours, courses and events are currently not taking place
