Is Google enough? Finding scientific information

The title "Is Google enough?" already suggests that scientific literature searches are not trivial. The course names the advantages and disadvantages of Google Scholar, shows extended search functions and presents the multidisciplinary databases Web of Science and Scopus as alternatives.

Learning objectives

At the end of the course, you are able to

  • summarise (dis-)advantages of Google Scholar,
  • use advanced search functions in Google Scholar for a specific literature search,
  • apply essential knowledge of information retrieval to your research,
  • use the two multidisciplinary databases Web of Science and Scopus in addition to Google Scholar.
