Update on the new swisscovery research portal
Find out more about the change-over to swisscovery and temporary restrictions in usage.
Starting on 7 December 2020, as an ETH Library user, you will now have access to the entire catalogue of scientific materials in Switzerland via a single research portal called swisscovery. Swisscovery will be replacing the search portal of the ETH Library and NEBIS recherche.
Information on your previous user details
Your current and previous loans, reservations, search history in the search portal and favourites cannot be migrated to the new system. Information on exporting your favourites, previous loans and reservations can be found at library.ethz.ch/swisscovery-en
Further information for the coming weeks
Before the switch to swisscovery is complete, there will be a brief period of restrictions in terms of library usage.

Halt to ordering and reservations
- Halt to NEBIS circulation network. Documents can no longer be ordered from foreign libraries.
- Halt to the courier service between Zurich Central Library and the ETH Library. Documents can no longer be ordered from Zurich Central Library to the ETH Library.
- On-site collection still available.
- Ordering by postal delivery still available.
- You can still return documents (from the NEBIS circulation network and Zurich Central Library).
- You can no longer reserve previously borrowed copies.

- You won’t be able to borrow, order, copy or return any media.

Launch of swisscovery
- You can once more borrow, order and return media.
Fees and conditions of use
From 7 December 2020, the courier service will be free to members of ETH Zurich when you choose an ETH Zurich library as the collection point. For all other customers, a courier order will now cost CHF 6.00. On-site collection and deliveries from Zurich Central Library will remain free of charge.
