As comprehensive search tools, interdisciplinary databases serve as a basic starting point for good literature research in an academic context. In order to use these resources efficiently, it is necessary to gain basic skills in systematic research.

Learning objectives

At the end of the course, you will be able to

  • structure a subject-based search in a sensible way by using Boolean operators, phrases and truncations,
  • use citations to analyse the relevance of your results and find further relevant hits and
  • combine and manage search queries in your search history.
