Embase
After PubMed, external page Embase is the most important biomedical literature database. In addition to the articles indexed by MEDLINE, it includes over 6 million records from 2900 mainly European journals, which are currently not covered by MEDLINE. Also included are all Cochrane reviews and, since 2009, conference proceedings.
Thanks to the Emtree thesaurus, which contains almost twice as many terms as the MeSH index in MEDLINE and PubMed, the huge amount of data can be specifically searched. Drug indexing with the chemical names, trade names of drugs and medical devices, names of drug manufacturers and the CAS numbers is particularly interesting.
Note
Due to its broad coverage and extensive indexing, EMBASE is suitable in particular for systematic literature searches.
