The ETH Zurich Research Collection is awarded the CoreTrustSeal

The ETH Library is the first Swiss university library to be awarded the CoreTrustSeal. As ETH Zurich’s institutional repository, the Research Collection now has a globally recognised certification.

The certification offers you specific benefits as an author and data producer at ETH Zurich:

  • Thanks to the CoreTrustSeal, you can be sure that your data and publications in the Research Collection are stored and made accessible according to international standards.
  • The external pageCoreTrustSeal also shows research funders and publishers that the Research Collection is a reliable data repository.
  • Furthermore, the certification demonstrates that the ETH Library is committed to making your data easy to find and accessible for the long term. As the certification needs to be renewed every three years, we will continue to check at regular intervals whether our processes and policies meet the current best practices.

CoreTrustSeal certification

The CoreTrustSeal is an internationally recognised certification for data repositories. It sets rigorous standards for the management, integrity, archiving, accessibility and reusability of data. The expectations are equally high regarding the technical infrastructure, policies, governance and workflows of the data repositories.

The certification process uses a self-assessment procedure based on external page16 requirements. It encompasses a multi-stage review process involving two experts. The process is crucial to identifying existing gaps and closing them.

The Research Collection – a trustworthy, sustainable platform

The certification underscores our endeavours to provide ETH Zurich’s researchers with a trustworthy, sustainable platform for the publication and long-term archiving of their research data.
