Stay at home: the 17:15 Colloquium is coming to you

What’s on the schedule for the coming autumn semester? Here is a preview of the topics that will be discussed by the three speakers.

Online publications: What kinds of legal hurdles do archives face?

On Thursday, 24 September 2020, at 5.15 p.m., Martin Steiger, lawyer and expert on law in the digital space, discusses the essential question of what archives are allowed to publish online in the course of digitisation and given the latest online publishing options.

Additional dates and topics

  • Thursday, 29 October 2020, 5.15 p.m.: A visual culture studies perspective on the possibilities and limitations of artificial intelligence. Dr Margarete Pratschke, Humboldt University of Berlin
  • Thursday, 26 November 2020, 5.15 p.m.: From the “readability of the world” (Blumenberg) to “machine readability of linked data”. Professor Sybille Krämer, Theoretical Philosophy, Freie Universität Berlin

Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all three 17:15 Colloquia scheduled for this autumn semester will be held virtually. We will send out more information about the colloquia along with registration information in September.

The 17:15 Colloquium offers a platform for further education and discussion of topics related to libraries, museums and archives. The formula: a 30-minute presentation + a 30-minute discussion = inspiration for our daily working lives.

#FocusHuman – Be inspired by people and learn something new.

#ETHLibraryDigital – The ETH Library is there for you digitally with various offers and services, not only during the COVID-19 protective measures.
