Extensive ornithological platform
Neuer Zugang zur derzeit umfangreichsten ornithologischen Plattform Birds of the World (BOW) für ETH-Angehörige.
With external page Birds of the World (BOW), the Cornell Lab of Ornithology gives scientists and bird enthusiasts across the globe access to what is currently the world’s most extensive ornithological platform. BOW brings together the four main works of ornithological research (Birds of North America, Handbook of the Birds of the World, Neotropical Birds, Bird Families of the World) with audiovisual collections from the Macaulay Library and the Internet Bird Collection.
In addition to the information about the individual bird species and families, distribution, and migration routes, the platform boasts over 700 million data points from individual bird observations taken from eBird, the world’s largest biodiversity citizen-science project.
BOW can be accessed via the ETH Zurich network. It will replace the HBW Alive database from April 2020.
