Wikipedia and Academia?!

Panel discussion and Wikipedia edit-a-thon at ETH Zurich

9 June 2017 is International Archives Day. In Switzerland, Archives Day 2017 is entitled "Archives ∞ connect". The Swiss Association of Archivists (VSA) is initiating cooperative events all over the country under this motto.

At ETH Zurich the main library's archives

• the ETH Zurich University Archives
• the Image Archive
• the Thomas Mann Archives
• the Max Frisch Archive

and the Archives of Contemporary History are offering a varied programme in cooperation with external pageWikimedia CHcall_made.

First of all, a panel will discuss the ambivalent relationship between academia and Wikipedia, and the contribution that archives can make in this field.

Afterwards, there will be an evening writing workshop (external pageWikipedia edit-a-thoncall_made, in German), which will continue on 10 June. It offers an ideal opportunity to write or enhance articles with the help of experienced Wikipedians and thus contribute your own specialist knowledge to Wikipedia.

The archives involved will provide diverse and extensive text and image material with their online sources and records.
