ETH Data Archive
The ETH Data Archive provides ETH Zurich’s long-term preservation solution for digital data.
Using, publishing, archiving
- We offer direct access to the ETH Data Archive exclusively for archiving software source code within the scope of the ETH transfer software registration. Please use the “Deposit Data” form to upload software code as part of the software registration process at ETH transfer.
- Publication and archiving of other data or scientific publications of members of ETH Zurich is handled by the Research Collection. The ETH Data Archive does its work in the background in its service as a long-term archive, that is, the data of the Research Collection is loaded into the ETH Data Archive by automated data export and archived there for the long term (except for data deposited via Libdrive).
- You want to archive your group’s website at ETH Zurich because you want to make major changes to it? Please contact the Web Archive at ETH Zurich University Archives with a proposal. If possible, the Web Archive will arrange for inclusion of your site in the ETH Data Archive.
Standards
The ETH Data Archive relies on recognised standards for implementation:
- The underlying software implements the external page OAIS standard, which defines the workflows necessary for true long-term preservation.
- external page PREMIS defines the metadata necessary for long-term preservation and is implemented in the ETH Data Archive.
- The ETH Data Archive has various standardised and widely used interfaces such as OAI-PMH and SRU. It also allows automatic registration of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for uploaded data.
Back up and protect data
For storage of all data, the ETH Data Archive exclusively uses the infrastructure of the IT Services of ETH Zurich. The data are stored geo-redundantly.
