Help shape Research Data Management (RDM) Training for the ETH Domain at this year’s MOOCathon

Join us on 10 and 11 September 2025 at ETH Zurich for a two-day hackathon and help improve RDM skills across the ETH Domain.

Apply until the end of July!

In collaboration with the ETH Library, this two-day event brings together researchers from across the ETH Domain to co-create and enhance short online Research Data Management (RDM) training modules.

What’s a MOOCathon?

A MOOCathon is a team-based workshop where participants collaboratively enhance pre-drafted training materials and turn them into engaging, practical learning experiences. Guided by experts and a structured process, it offers a hands-on chance to co-create open educational content for the research community.

Together with a group of other researchers you will work on one of the topics that you can select:

  1. Code Management and Reproducibility
  2. Sensitive Data Treatment
  3. Writing Useful Data Management Plans
  4. Licenses
  5. Open File Formats and Open-Source Code

Why You Should Join?

  • Collaborate and connect with peers from other ETH Domain institutions in a dynamic and creative setting.
  • All expenses covered, including travel and one night of accommodation in Zurich (for participants not based there), plus lunches and coffee breaks.
  • Each participant can receive up to CHF 200, depending on their team’s wins.

This MOOCathon is open to researchers from Eawag, Empa, EPFL, ETH Zurich, PSI, and WSL, across all disciplines and career stages.
