Subculture and self-determination: two magazines, many stories
Immerse yourself in New Life Soundmagazine and Frauezitig - two cult magazines among the many new additions to E-Periodica that capture the pulse of electropop, protest and emancipation from the 70s to the 90s.

In 1983, members of the Swiss Depeche Mode Fan Club founded the music magazine New Life Soundmagazine. Each issue of the fanzine was designed by the editorial team with illustrations and a great deal of personal commitment. From the mid-1980s onwards, the magazine steadily gained importance within the European electronic, wave and independent movement, so that in addition to the Swiss editorial team, editorial teams in Germany and Sweden were added. Completely unexpectedly, New Life Soundmagazine was discontinued in April 1990. We have now made the magazines available on external page E-Periodica.

Frauezitig, later FRAZ, was first published in Zurich in 1975 and was the official organ of the women's liberation movement, which organised itself as an autonomous group independent of existing women's associations and left-wing groups. The issues contain stories about women's rights, work and relationship, reports on political activities, demands and statements, as well as information on counselling services. FRAZ received the City of Zurich's Equality Award in 2001 for its commitment, but had to cease publication in 2009 due to financial difficulties. Browse through the issues of Frauezitig on external page E-Periodica and discover how relevant many of these topics still are today!
