Franz Hohler reads from ‘Die Rückeroberung: When nature devours the city
As part of the literature and book festival ‘Zürich liest’, Franz Hohler will give a reading of his story ‘Die Rückeroberung’ at the Green Library on 25 October.
Come and share an exciting and imaginative evening with Switzerland's great poet in the unique atmosphere of the Green Library. Franz Hohler will be reading from ‘Die Rückeroberung’ (The Recapture), an outrageous story in which nature reclaims the city. This ‘what if?’ is neither idyllic nor contemplative. People are helpless in the face of the terror of wild animals and rampantly growing plants.
Published 40 years ago, the story has lost none of its topicality. It shows how contradictory and fractured the relationship between humans and nature has always been. After all, how much nature can humans tolerate? How much space can and should nature occupy in their everyday lives? Franz Hohler discusses these questions in the following conversation with Prof. Dr. Susanne E. Ulbrich from the Department of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zurich.
This reading was already planned for 2023 and unfortunately had to be cancelled. We are therefore delighted to be able to enjoy an inspiring evening with Franz Hohler with you this year.
