Discover the history of timber construction at Scientifica 2021
Take a guided tour of the ETH Materials Hub and find out more about the development of wood as a building material from the Renaissance to the present day.
At this year’s external pageScientifica, which has taken “Synthetic naturally” as its theme, Udo Thönnissen from the Department of Architecture will be giving a number of guided tours in partnership with the ETH Materials Hub. The tours, entitled “Bauen mit Holz – Die Entwicklung des Holzes vom Naturbaustoff zum Hightech-Werkstoff”, will be held in the Architecture and Civil Engineering Library on the ETH Hönggerberg Campus.
Visitors will also be able to touch material samples and building elements for a first-hand impression of wood as a construction material.
The guided tours will take place on Saturday, 4 September, and Sunday, 5 September 2021, with numerous start times. external pageDetails can be found in the official programme.
