From the treasure trove of the Max Frisch Archive

Max Frisch would have celebrated his 110th birthday this year. Swiss artist Gottfried Honegger sent the author a very special birthday message in 1981.

Honegger drew the portraits for Max Frisch’s 70th birthday. The graphic designer, sculptor and painter was a close friend of Max Frisch, as evidenced by the wealth of correspondence between the two in the Max Frisch Archive. Max Frisch also occasionally worked in Honegger’s studio in Zurich, and even immortalised him in literary form with the character of Kabusch in his Diary 1966–1971: “Kabusch is an enthusiast; when espousing a point, he might seem to be Savonarola, or a gardener, or sometimes an owl with the smile of a man.”
