Research Collection: Statistics January to March 2021

The Research Collection statistics sets two records: Never before have so many downloads been made in a month, and never before has the open-access proportion been so high in a single year!

A new record of 94,692 downloads was already set in November 2020, but this was equalled again two months later and our new record of 99,815 is very close to the 100,000 mark. However, in this case, a close call is not a miss, and perhaps we will be able to announce that the mark has been passed in the next quarter already.

Extraordinarily high proportion of open-access articles

The 2021 open-access share of the Research Collection is currently 52 %, which is 8 % more than for 2020 and 14 % more than in 2019. A significant increase for which we would also like to thank the users of the Research Collection, after all, you contribute significantly by uploading full texts and thus enable the accessibility of research results from ETH Zurich!

The external pagearticle with the highest Altmetric score deals with an already distant climate crisis and the external pagedissertation with the most downloads looks at our shopping and mobility behaviour in times when both are restricted.
