Research Collection: Statistics October 2019
In October 2019, the number of journal article downloads reached a new record level. More than 70,000 downloads were made in a single month.
This corresponds to an increase of almost 50% compared to September and about 10,000 downloads more than in May, the previous record month.
The dataset "A consensus estimate for the ice thickness distribution of all glaciers on Earth", published by Prof. Daniel Farinotti in 2019, has now been the most downloaded dataset in the Research Collection for six months in a row. In total, the dataset was downloaded more than 7,700 times. In October alone, a model from the dataset was downloaded more than 2,000 times. Almost 85% of these downloads were made from China.
We have been able to increase the Open Access share of documents published in the Research Collection from 26% to 36% since March 2019 and hope to reach the 40% mark by the end of the year.
