Exhibition at Zurich’s Strauhof: “Thomas Mann in Amerika"
As a cooperation partner, the Thomas Mann Archive makes the exhibition possible with original loans
The exhibition “external pageThomas Mann in Amerika” will be shown at Zurich’s Strauhof between 24 October 2019 and 19 January 2020. The Thomas Mann Archives at ETH Zurich are acting as a cooperation partner and main lender to this exhibition: around 100 of the archives’ original loan items are on show, including all of Thomas Mann’s American diaries, 25 working manuscripts and 70 photographs.
After living as an émigré in Switzerland, Thomas Mann spent 14 years in exile in America, becoming an American citizen. He subsequently returned to Switzerland, where he spent his remaining years. The exhibition at Zurich’s Strauhof focuses specifically on the author’s political involvement. It will be complemented by a diverse event programme.
