Thomas Mann International – digital networking of the collections

Aim of the project

The key aim is the virtual consolidation of the Mann collections held in various institutions and their digital networking. In this way, the five establishments involved will create a virtual archive on Thomas Mann which will be supplemented and made accessible across borders.

Description of the project

Together with the implementation of a content management system, the project for the digital networking of the collections within the Thomas Mann International network, constitutes a first step towards a collaboration and cooperation of the various Mann institutions. The development of a joint digital research platform for the collections held at the Mann institutions also raises awareness of the network. The project’s initial goal is the creation of a “research portal” as a central means of access to the collections in the TM International network, based on the Primo discovery system developed by ExLibris. This is complemented by the harvesting of data from the respective source systems via OAI interfaces.
