MALIA
Aim of the project
The aim of the project is to digitize 136,000 Hymenoptera, in particular the Lepidoptera and Lepidoptera, and subsequently publish them in the NAHIMA database. In addition, a 3D model of over 860 types of the order Hymenoptera will be created using photogrammetry.
Description of the project
The digitization is based on the work processes that were developed as part of the previous IMAGO project and are now being further optimized. In a first step, all specimens are transferred to new boxes with unit trays and newly identified by taxonomists. The labels and insects are then photographed. Finally, the labels are transcribed and georeferenced. Thanks to the MALIA project, the processed parts of the collection achieve curation level 7-8 (McGinley score). The project thus creates a basis for faunistic and taxonomic research and allows modeling of the effects of climate change and biodiversity loss.
